K2 BlackPearl: Seattle Launch Event

K2 No Comments »

Last week a colleague (Daniel Gocsman) and I had the pleasure of attending the K2 Black Peal launch event in Seattle. The event was attended by K2 employees, customers, partners and K2 Insiders. The evening started off with a Black Pearl presentation of a K2 implementation case study at Del Monte Foods. This was followed by speeches by Shereen Pinto (K2’s Regional Director for Americas West) and Glen Bryant (K2’s Vice President for Americas).

Shereen spoke briefly about the visions that K2 had with the release of Black Pearl and the improvements of the product and how it will be able to meet customer automated process requirements.

Glen spoke about new K2 components that will be released soon including:

K2 BlackPoint

K2 BlackPoint acts as the interface with Microsoft SharePoint and will allow customers to:

  • manage documents and approvals across Microsoft SharePoint sites and libraries;
  • visually create workflows through a SharePoint-hosted, drag-and-drop interface.
  • build workflows based on templates that guide the user.
  • reuse workflows that have already been built by you or others.
  • leverage contextual information within the process (including information about libraries, items, users and groups).
  • all processes will be stored and executed within a K2 server - allowing for a seamless upgrade to K2 BlackPearl.

K2 BlackJax

K2 BlackJax will allow customers to assemble dynamic business applications without leaving the browser. Users will be able to design, deploy, adjust and report on applications without extensive technical know-how.

K2 Connect

K2 Connect will allow customers to visually assemble applications that use information spanning line-of-business systems (when another BPM system is already in place or when process automation is not required). It is envisage that the Initial out-of-box integration will include a SAP connector.

I spent the rest of the evening meeting with K2 customers and other K2 Insiders and discussing the new release of K2 Black Pearl.
